Tesla Girls 28/08/84 Tesla Girls

Tesla Girls

Tesla Girls uses a sample of Maureen Humphreys singing "No" recorded into an Emulator. It was also the first time the band had used a Linn Drum.

Telegraph (b-side) had originally been a single released in 1983 and had featured on OMD's fourth album Dazzle Ships. This version was recorded live at a concert at Hammersmith Odeon, London 10.05.83 as part of film footage shot on the night.

Tesla Girls had been one of the first songs written during a period spent in Highland Studios, Inverness. Andy and Paul had felt that The Gramophone Suite (their self-built studio in Liverpool) had become a little too familiar and uninspiring for writing songs.

The original release of this single came in a high quality gloss card sleeve. Later releases featured paper sleeves.
